A. Analytical Writing Assessment This section contains two essays; Analysis of an argument and Perspective on Issue. Both essays of designed to test you critical thinking and persuasive writing abilities. This section is given in two sections in which you need to write two essays showing your analytical skills. This score is not a part of your final GRE score – the perfect score being 340.

B. Verbal Reasoning Your verbal reasoning abilities are measured in two sections of 20 questions each. Each section contains three different types of question; sentence equivalence questions, text completion questions and reading comprehension questions. Given the acceptability of GRE scores even for admission into MBA programs, two or three Critical Reasoning questions are also included in the reading comprehension questions.

C. Quantitative Reasoning Your mathematical aptitude and reasoning abilities are measured in two section of 20 questions each. Each section contains two different types of questions; Problem Solving questions and Quantitative Comparison questions. As you need to work with a lot of mathematical and statistical measures in higher education, you conceptual knowledge of mathematics is tested thoroughly in this section.
